Fixtures and results:

Tweseldown 8-10 March

Cavalier Venture and MHS King Joules both ran really well finishing 4th and 29th respectively in their classes.

Aldon 17-18 March

I rode all my Horses at Aldon. Cavalier Venture finished a respectable 6th at Novice level after a great ride, Archie and Tess had a good first run out to start their year finishing 15 and 21.

This was my first competitive ride on Chilli Morning and we finished 10th in our class. I wasn’t happy with the way I was riding him but hoped that our next ride at Belton Park would be better.

Somerley 27 March

Cavalier Venture and MHS King Joules competed really well, finishing 7th and 2nd in their classes.

Belton Park 30-1 April

I decided to withdraw my top horses as the ground was dry and running them would not have any effect on their Olympic training. Apache Sauce ran well finishing 19th in his first competition of the year.

I didn’t have a great ride on Chilli Morning, we were eliminated after accumulating refusals. We were not really jelling as a partnership and he wasn’t happy with the stronger bit I had to use on him. I didn’t feel I was doing him Justice which wasn’t fair to the owners or the horse so I recommended he go to William Fox-Pitt who will be competing on him from now on. I am disappointed as this is the first time I have had to let a horse go but am sure William will enjoy him as he is a lovely horse.

Larkhill 7 April

Cavalier Venture gave me a great ride and I am really pleased with his progress finishing 6th

Sapey 11-12 April

Cavalier Venture was really on great form and we finished 1st which was a super result and I am so pleased with his progress.

Badminton 3-7 May

Apache Sauce will be my only ride at Badminton this year, so watch this space.

Chatsworth 12-13 May

This will be my first pre-olympic run for Archie and Tess. Everything has been running very smoothly and I have high hopes for this year and being able to compete in the London 2012 olympics. If I am picked it will be my 6th Olympics! The Olympic team of 5 plus the reserves will be named at the end of May.

I have been to my dressage trainer Ferdi Eilberg a few times this year, mainly with my top horses. Also the “elite squad” have had a couple of team training sessions at Addington with Tracie Robinson (team dressage trainer) and Peter Murphy (team jumping trainer). I met up with Yogi Breisner (our performance manager) for some jumping lessons at William Fox Pitts yard in Dorset the other week. I love all these training sessions as I am constantly wanting to improve, you never stop learning!!

There has been a real surge in press requests with the Olympics drawing nearer. I have done photo shoots and features for The Sunday Telegraph and Sunday Express plus the following magazines: Stella, S, Woman and Home, BA Inflight, Time, L’Eperon, and Girls & Co. I am getting pretty good at hair and make up!!!!

I did a fun photoshoot for my sponsor Joules. My 2012 clothing range is now out, so please visit www.joules.com and get ordering!

Emily King

Emily has also had a great start to the year finishing 10th Overall at Belton on Mr Hiho and the second best junior in the under 21 category. Charlemagne and Miss Indigo have also gone well.

Emily is busy revising for her GCSE’s this year so trying to balance her eventing career and school work is going to be interesting and at times fraught I am sure
