Archie (Imperial Cavalier) and Tess (Kings Temptress) are enjoying their enforced Autumn break. Archie has gone back to Cheshire to his owners where he is enjoying some down time. Tess is up at Twemlows Embryo Transfer Centre. She produced one embryo earlier in the year (by Chilli Morning) and I am now trying with the beautiful stallion Royaldyk. Both her and Archie will be rescanned by Liz Brown, our team vet, later on in September to see how their minor tendons injuries are looking.
Jay (MHS King Joules) and Chubby (Cavalier Venture) both went very well in the Intermediate Champs at Gatcombe. It was their biggest event so far in their career and they both rose to the occasion with competitive dressage tests and great sj and xc rounds. As it was their first of this level I didn’t go fast xc but they left me with the feeling that they are definitely potential stars!
Chubby went on to finish 4th in the Intermediate at Bicton and then 3rd in the Open Intermediate at Wellington. I have applied to go to Le Lions D’Angers 7yr old European Champs with him, but the places are restricted, so fingers crossed we get selected.
Jay has had a change of ownership from the Davies to Bedgebury Park thanks to owner Gabriella Atkinson and Tom Joule…I was relieved to be able to keep the ride as have high hopes for him. He competed in the Advanced class at Wellington (his first advanced) last weekend, and was very impressive for an 8yr old doing a 31 dressage and clear sj and xc for his new owners 🙂
Lottie (Kings Choice) completed her eventing year with very impressive runs at Smiths Lawn and Sapey…where she finished 2nd in the novice section. At 5yrs old she has now done plenty and will have a complete break until next year… she has learnt a huge amount during the year and now needs time out to let it all soak in and to grow stronger ready to crack on next year as a 6yr old.
In between events I have been teaching, doing photoshoots and interviews for magazines including Aga Living, and Your Horse and also some filming for Zoetis (the animal health side of Pfizer).
It will be strange going to Burghley Horse Trials and not riding, but will be there on the Sat and Sun as have plenty of work to do for sponsors. I will be at the Joules stand at 10.30 on the Sun so hope to see some of you there!
Now it is the exciting build up Emily’s European Champs (Jardy nr Paris Sept 12th – 15th). She has had a superb run of success recently, so fingers crossed it continues! Mr Hiho is in top form so he is her 1st choice, but is in the comfortable situation of having Brookleigh as a direct reserve, and Charlemagne as a 3rd reserve.
