Only a few weeks to go until the start of the event season… we just need the ground to start to dry up, gosh what a lot of rain we have been having, I’m getting very tired of mud!
Thank goodness for Ariat Bromonts for keeping my feet warm and dry!!
Our new Equestrian Surfaces arena is just finished, it is FABULOUS. It is 60m x 35m and during all the heavy rain it has been the only dry area! The Cushion Track surface is awesome, we won’t have any excuses this year!
On returning from a fun ski holiday with family and friends at the end of Jan, it was time to start doing more with the horses. During the last couple of weeks we have been showjumping at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre and also arena cross-country schooling at Bicton and Pontispool. My three homebred 6yr olds Billy, Bobby and Joey are feeling very grown-up this year. I’m looking forward to getting them established at Novice level, then progressing to intermediate level and doing their first CCI* this year.
Emily has been to her first lot of Olympic Squad training at Addington, very exciting! She and Brookleigh are focusing on competing at their first Badminton Horse Trials this Spring, which they will need to do well to be considered for Rio.
Mitsubishi, my sponsor, have given me a fabulous new L200 Series 5 Shogun which is wonderful and very generous of them. As well as being a great work horse with plenty of room for horse feed, haylage etc, it is fantastic to drive on the motorway, I love it!
Baileys Horse Feed’s nutritionalist has been for a yard visit to check the horses and advise on any change in their diets. Tess who is in foal to Cevin Z is looking very pregnant now (and happy to be fat!), but not due until the end of May.
