It was so sad to lose Apache Sauce (Caffery) at Weston Park. He ruptured a tendon early on the XC course. It was his last event of his career, having had a happy autumn season with Emily doing lower levels events. It was very kind of Gillian Jonas, his owner, to let me ride him for the main part of his career, we had some great times together with his best result being 4th at Burghley. He completed 10 4 star events always finishing in the ribbons, and always stay so sound. Dear Caffery, we are all missing you.

On a lighter note Chubby (Cavalier Venture) is all set for his big event next week at Le Lions D’Angers in France, where he is competing in the 6 yr old Championship section. Archie (Imperial Cavalier) and Tess (Kings Temptress) are all set for Pau CCI**** the following week…so exciting times ahead!

Following the Olympics there have been some fun events I have been invited to including 2 recordings of “Live at the Apollo” which were very entertaining!. Exeter Racecourse hosted a ‘South West Athlete’s Celebration Day” at their first meeting of the season. The 4th race was named after me, it was a great honour, and I presented the winning owner with their prize. Talks for sponsors, after dinner speaking, school prize givings plus trying to find the next super star horse have all been keeping me busy!
