The Young Rider Europeans Champs at Montelibretti in Italy went so wrong for Emily and the GB squad. Dargun was poorly after the long journey, so had to be withdrawn before the start of the competition…so sad for Em, and everyone, especially as she had had a good chance. Then 2 of the team horses had lameness problems 🙁 A beautiful setting and glorious weather helped greatly to make the week more bearable…Horses, who’d have ’em?!!
But a super next week at Lignieres CCI** in France was a lovely way to finish the season. Cooley Currency performed well in all 3 phases and finished 5th. The French were so relaxed and welcoming. Michael Jung had his 4 star horses there as a prep run for Pau 4 star, so that made the event even more competitive and special!
It’s good to be home now for a few weeks to catch up with things. Em and I are doing some work with the younger ones. With the weather cooling down my Ariat waterproof and insulated Bromont boots have come out of summer storage, as have my Joules gilets and warm hoodies 🙂
We are still trying to find some more potential superstars as have a couple of owners wanting to buy….but the really special horses are few and far between.
Emma Hartwell, our wonderful head girl who has been with us for 4 years, and also Millie Walker who has worked for us for 2016, have both sadly left now 🙁 so we are on the hunt for 2 special girls to join our team for next year. Em has put a post on her FB page, so anyone interested please apply through that medium.
I have just had a very special time in London teaching The Kings Troop. I felt extremely privileged to be asked to ride in their Draught Parade practise..see their FB page (!)
After dinner speaking, talks and teaching days are lined up over the next few weeks, including teaching for 4 days in the US before fulfilling one of my bucket list wishes….crewing on a transatlantic crossing!
