We had a lovely Barbury HTs. Emily’s horses went well, Billy, Bobby and Joey all jumped double clears and are starting to feel pretty grown up.
Unfortunately, I have been having trouble with my neck (cervical dystonia) and following some new treatment after Barbury I couldn’t compete properly through the following month due to pain and stiffness. But it is now improving, the treatment is working and I am back on track with a straighter head, hurray!!! My next events are West Wilts, Bicton and Treborough. I’m looking forward to getting going properly again.
Emily came 3rd at the Intermediate Champs at Gatcombe with Dargun, which was very exciting, and will put them in good stead for selection for the Young Rider European Champs in Italy in September. They have a final trial at Wellington HTs in 2 weeks after which the squad will be announced.
Tess and her Cevin Z foal, Tizzy, are well and at the Beaufort Embryo Transfer Centre at the mo. We tried to get an embryo using frozen semen from the wonderful French stallion Upsilon, but sadly had a negative flushing. Plan B is fresh semen from Cevin Z, so Tizzy will hopefully have a full sister or brother next year. Zara (one of Emily’s rides) has produced 2 embryos using Royaldik. Very exciting!
How sad Rio didn’t go well for the Brits. William and Chilli’s performance was golden throughout except for that one tiny blip, so incredibly undeserved. My heart also went out to Yogi who has put such a huge amount into the sport over a 20yr span, he definitely deserved to finish his Performance Manager’s position with a top result.
Having been lucky enough to have competed at the last 6 Olympics (that’s me in the image!), I found it strange not to be part of Rio. Roll on Tokyo in 4 years… Emily and I want to be there!!
